‘Smelling the flowers’ took on a whole new meaning at Google HQ in Mountain View, California on the first day of this year’s AADA NADA Study Tour to San Francisco, proudly sponsored by Snap21 and SpinCar Australia.

The “alfa flowers” responded to our laughter, frowns and smiles by changing colours based on our expressions.

Google’s artificial flowers were just one of many surprises that wowed the group on the first day of the Cox Automotive Tour to Google.

Others included lunch at eBay with the Gumtree team, a visit to Sunnyvale Toyota where we heard how they sell around 600 units per month via the internet and from walk-ins.

Then it was back on the bus to attend the NADA Welcome Reception hosted by J. D. Power in the Yerba Buena Ballroom at the luxurious Marriott Marquis.

Day two was spent exploring the four massive levels of the Moscone Convention and Exhibition Centre, checking out the 500-plus exhibitors’ display stands, as well as taking time out to attend workshop sessions covering the latest marketing strategies, social media, how to sell more used cars, and more.

SpinCar’s booth at the expo was jam-packed for the entire four days, with the team signing 130 new Dealers to the platform, which subsequently won the ‘Automotive Website Award for Website Merchandising’ for the third year in a row.

Snap21 also had a large presence at the show with their award winning reviews platform. Snap21 stands above and beyond its competitors by providing Dealership branded review photos alongside genuine customer reviews across multiple online platforms.

In the evening we were invited to attend the AADA Gumtree International Relations Dinner at Morton’s The Steakhouse (the best steak ever!) where we were introduced to the then current NADA Chairman Wes Lutz, six previous NADA Chairmen as well international guests from Italy, South America and the UK.

Day three gave us with the opportunity to revisit the NADA Show to check out in more detail what some of world’s leading software and hardware companies were showcasing and marketing to American and International Auto Dealers.

Then, thanks to Carsales and Pentana Solutions it was time to party and celebrate Australia Day at the Golden Gate Tap Room where ‘Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi’ easily drowned out the zealous sports commentators calling the skiing, basketball and NFL on the giant-sized TV screens. The Australia Day party was a great finale to the tour and as one of the delegates wrote on social media: “I want to thank Patrick Tessier and AADA for an amazing experience at the 2019 NADA Convention in San Francisco!”
